Arizona legislature demands immigrants and President of the United States verify their status.
Just a few days after Arizona lawmakers passed an immigration law that will essentially require anyone who is or looks like an immigrant to carry their proof of residency at all times, the Arizona House voted for a provision that would require President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate and prove his own citizenship status. Arizona’s local KPHO station broke the news:The Arizona House on Monday voted for a provision that would require President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate if he hopes to be on the state’s ballot when he runs for reelection. The House voted 31-22 to add the provision to a separate bill. The measure still faces a formal vote.
It would require U.S. presidential candidates who want to appear on the ballot in Arizona to submit documents proving they meet the constitutional requirements to be president. Phoenix Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema said the bill is one of several measures that are making Arizona “the laughing stock of the nation.” Mesa Republican Rep. Cecil Ash said he has no reason to doubt Obama’s citizenship but supports the measure because it could help end doubt.
Casey Newton of the Arizona Republic points out that similar laws have been proposed in Oklahoma, Florida and Missouri, though none have been signed into law. Newton also points out that the bill “originated from a fringe group” known as “birthers.” Many have pointed out that even if the bill gets past the Senate and Gov. Jan Brewer’s (R-AZ) desk, it will likely be determined to be an “unconstitutional imposition of state eligibility requirements on federal candidates.” Experts have also predicted that Arizona’s recently approved immigration law will be found unconstitutional on the grounds that it “singles out the speech of immigrant day laborers for criminalization” and conflicts with the federal government’s enforcement of immigration laws — a function assigned by the constitution.
April 22, 2010 at 6:51 pm #160561grb1063MemberI THINK IT IS REMARKABLE THAT WITHIN A WEEK OF TIGER WOODS CRASHING HIS ESCALADE, THE PRESS FOUND EVERY WOMAN WITH WHOM TIGER HAS HAD AN AFFAIR IN THE LAST FEW YEARS, WITH PHOTOS, TEXT MESSAGES, RECORDED PHONE CALLS, ETC. THEY NOT ONLY KNEW THE CAUSE OF THE FIGHT, BUT THEY EVEN KNEW IT WAS A WEDGE FROM HIS GOLF BAG THAT HIS WIFE USED TO BREAK OUT THE WINDOWS IN THE ESCALADE. NOT ONLY THAT, THEY KNEW WHICH WEDGE! EACH AND EVER DAY, THEY GAVE AMERICA MORE UPDATES ON HIS SEX-REHAB STAY, HIS WIFE’S PLANS FOR DIVORCE, AND HIS PLANS TO RETURN TO THE PRO-GOLF CIRCUIT.
OBAMA HAS BEEN IN OFFICE FOR OVER A YEAR NOW, AND THIS SAME PRESS STILL CANNOT LOCATE OBAMA’S OFFICIAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE, OR ANY OF HIS PAPERS WHILE IN COLLEGE, OR HOW HE PAID FOR A HARVARD EDUCATION, OR WHICH COUNTRY ISSUED HIS VISA TO TRAVEL TO PAKISTAN IN THE 1980’S AS BARRY SOETORO AND EVEN MICHELLE OBAMA’S PRINCETON THESIS ON RACISIM. IT JUST CAN’T BE FOUND.
YET THE PUBLIC STILL TRUSTS THAT SAME PRESS TO GIVE THEM
THE WHOLE TRUTH . . .
TRULY REMARKABLE!
April 22, 2010 at 7:02 pm #160562kordanMemberWell, generally when people have affairs–and they become famous–the lover comes forward–in this case, Larry Sinclair (google it) has come forward as Obama’s lover.
Maybe they`ll paint Air Force One hot pink!!!April 22, 2010 at 7:09 pm #160563maravillaMemberoh, give it up. didn’t they publish his birth certificate over a year ago, before he was elected, when this stupid rumor was started by the ultra right wing media? what, you still believe he was born in Kenya? i swear. stop listening to Faux News. NExt you’ll be telling me what my right wing girlfriend said — that “they” have proof that obama was a male prostitute, a crack addict, that he NEVER went to harvard, and was trained by the russians to be the manchurian candidate. this, coming from a woman with advanced degrees and i thought a working brain, but she bought into this right wing crap and now tells everyone she knows the “truth” — did they put something in the water while i’ve been out of the country? are you guys all smoking crack? yeah yeah, keep them focused on tiger’s sexual antics; that’s a great diversion. should i be learning the words to Deutschland Uber Alles? i can’t believe that really smart people buy into the spin. Eddie Bernays was right.
April 22, 2010 at 8:03 pm #160564kordanMemberHave you even looked into this?–or are you just being a parrot for Bill O Reilly.
Wow–here in the huffington post–the supreme court has turned down yet another suit–seems like a cut and dry case–why would it have to go to the surpreme court? HMMM
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/12/15/obama-birth-certificate-s_n_151103.html
Oh Look–here is a guy in the military being court marshalled for asking The Question?
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0410/Birther_courtmartialed.htmlAnd in reponse to your question–the state of Hawaii issued a PRINTOUT–not the original document. No original birth certificate has been presented–or5 there would be no need to go to the surp–have you actually done your research? Or do you think you know¿
And-regarding your comment of ^faux news^
Are you saying that the corporate sponsored media always tell you the truth? I have a bridge for sale–are you interested?“It is not disbelief that is dangerous to our society; it is belief”
George Bernard Shawi swear. stop listening to Faux News.
April 22, 2010 at 8:22 pm #160565maravillaMemberi don’t believe one single word that corporate media spews to the mindless public that swallows its rhetoric hook, line, and sinker. i did all this research waaaay back when when it first became a popular topic, and decided that it was almost too stupid to even contemplate. so if he wasn’t born in hawaii, he was born WHERE???? i have a dozen or so alternative news outlets that i listen to/read, and all of them have debunked this silly notion long ago. i can’t believe it’s reared its ugly head yet again. it’s pure propaganda delivered as news, written by some corporate drone whose employer has an agenda. but you made my day just thinking about all the right wingers who are frothing at the mouth now and claiming he was born in, oh yeah, some african country where they don’t keep birth certificates.
April 22, 2010 at 8:43 pm #160566kordanMemberIts so funny to be labeled. You attack faux news, but don`t believe the corporate media. You attack the ^mindless public^ but admit that ^it was almost too stupid to even contemplate^
But since you have obviously researched the topic ad naseum as you claim. Can you answer any of these* Did you know his childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, spied on U.S. military installations in Hawaii for the Soviet Union, edited a communist newspaper, authored pornographic novels, and wrote poetry in praise of Joseph Stalin.
* Did you know his academic records are sealed from kindergarten through law school.
* Did you know he traveled to Pakistan when it was illegal for U.S. citizens to do so. So what country’s passport did he use?
And finally–Saul Aliinsky was one of his mentors—you can look that up
and in his book Rules For Radicals
Rules for Radicals opens with a quote about Lucifer, written by Saul Alinsky: “Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.”
In Rules for Radicals, Alinsky says: “Here I propose to present an arrangement of certain facts and general concepts of change, a step toward a science of revolution.” He builds on the tactical principles of Machiavelli: “The Prince was written by Machiavelli for the Haves on how to hold power. Rules for Radicals is written for the Have-nots on how to take it away.”
So–he may be the greastest guy in the world–but he sure keeps interesting company

April 22, 2010 at 8:58 pm #160568kordanMemberAnd so I wont be accused of reading ^faux new^
Here is the same article listed in the NY times
Apparently the state legislator doesnt think its too stupid to even contemplateDamn Right Wingers…Public ridicule apparently isnt as effective as it used to be
April 22, 2010 at 9:57 pm #160569maravillaMemberThe Arizona Republic reported earlier that the legislation originated from a ”fringe group that believes President Barack Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States and therefore ineligible to be president.”
The so-called “birther movement,” questioning Mr. Obama’s origins, began during his presidential campaign. It has steadily persisted through Mr. Obama’s presidency, in spite of overwhelming evidence he was born in the United States — including his 1961 birth announcement, printed in two Hawaii newspapers.
i suppose you also believe what glenn beck is saying about the marxist conspiracy. that sounds very much like what happened in 1954 when the spin docs claimed Arbenz had commie pinkos in his cabinet and therefore he should be removed from office. golly, guys, don’t believe everything you think. so let’s see, obama is a gay, crackhead, manchurian candidate born in one of them countries over “there” — you know the country with all the dark skinned people, and the soviets, knowing that they would eventually use obama planted his birth announcement in the honolulu papers just to cover their tracks way back in 1961. come on…….
April 22, 2010 at 10:18 pm #160570DavidCMurrayParticipantAnd, by the way, let’s see a show of hands from everyone participating here who can produce the authentic original of his or her own birth certificate. And how do you know? Do you really remember this detail of your own birth? I doubt it.
If you cannot produce it and if you cannot authenticate it, with credible witnesses, then you are as not American as you assert the President to be. Therefore, you are ineligible to vote in U.S. elections and your participation in this rant is meaningless. You have no standing to complain.
Regardless of the originality of anyone’s birth certificate (there can be more than one legal birth certificate), the States maintain meticulous records of births and produce documents which, by law, constitute proof of those births. If the State of Hawaii says the document issued is President Obama’s, then, by legal definition, it is unless and until someone can prove it has been forged. Where’s the proof?
Note, too, that when most of us applied for our Costa Rican residency, we did not (did not) produce our own original birth certificates issued at the moment of our births. We used reissued certificates issued by the same authorities, and with the same authentication, that generated the President’s. If his ain’t, neither is yours.
April 22, 2010 at 10:23 pm #160571kordanMemberI remember a long time ago there was a FRINGE group that believed the world was flat.
There was also a Fringe group that believed the Earth rotated around the sun
Or the fringe group who believed women should have an education and vote–real Fringy–luckily they manage to keep those fringers out of Iran–
Darn—It sucks to be fringe
By the way, Maravela–you never answered any of the points I raised.
But its OK–this horse is definitely dead lets leave it bequote=”maravilla”]The Arizona Republic reported earlier that the legislation originated from a ”fringe group that believes President Barack Obama is not a natural-born citizen of the United States and therefore ineligible to be president.”

April 22, 2010 at 10:32 pm #160572maravillaMemberof course i’m not going to answer your questions. they are beyond dumb. you can’t even come up with a valid argument and those that have tried have been proven wrong.
not only is the horse dead, it’s rotting and stinking. if you folks can believe the story you are spreading then you can believe anything. The “birthers” —- jejejejejeje
April 23, 2010 at 3:26 pm #160573sueandchrisMemberI am heading out of Arizona tomorrow to return “home” to Costa Rica. This state has been embarrassing itself politically/intellectually for DECADES before this latest fiasco. I’ve spent my life here..alternately being highly amused and highly chagrined for what passes for public discourse. You’ll have to trust me when I say that if the ultra-conservative Arizona Republic is calling “birthers” the “far-fringe right”….well that is something!
As for the new legislation….we have a HUGE portion of our citizenship in Arizona that is Hispanic. Imagine how excited they are going to be to find themselves rousted at every turn and asked for their “documents”. Jeeeez!
April 23, 2010 at 3:48 pm #160574grb1063MemberEvery country I have been to in the world, I am used to being asked for my documents. I can’t recall how many nightly police checks in Colon where I have had to produce my documents. Get pulled over in any country in Europe….produce your documents.
The US has become a pansy and the Arizona law is just indicative of how bad the immigration problem has become; putting and undue burden on public facilities with no added tax revenue. California is even worse, but they are too liberal to do anything about. I expect the Republic of Texas to be next.
If you are caught illegally in Costa Rica, what would be the end result?
David: I have my original birth certificate from Rosario Hospital in Madrid, Spain and the original US Consular Report. -
