In my construction business the weather is a significant factor when predicting costs and time frames to complete work. After living and working in CR for 18 years, I’ve been on projects during variable weather conditions and can assure you that trying to predict when the rainy season begins and ends is not practical. As the rain pours down on my roof tonight, (December, 11, 2011) I recall why I advise my clients that installations of exterior building materials between August and December is a gamble. There are windows of opportunity that experienced builders have good instincts for and like many things in life, timing is an important factor between success and failure. So the next time someone tells you that it doesn’t rain in CR in December, remember that it does.

I have seen it continue well into January and I remember being stuck on our dirt road in the car all night about 3 years ago. Thank goodness we have a gravel road now. Some years it ends early and some years it hangs on. I think of those late rainy season downpours as the rainy season’s last hurrah. It just that some rainy seasons have more hurrahs than others. 😉

59 and sideways the last 2 days. The wind died down last night.
Had my first visit been in Dec, I’da never returned.December 14, 2011 at 2:06 pm #161527maravillaMembermy first visit here was in january during the worst and coldest weather spell they had had in 50 years. people in grecia were scurrying to buy gloves, and scarves, and hats. i had never been so cold or so damp in my life — worse than Paris in February! i was told it was a freak storm but it cemented my decision to put in a fireplace when i built my house and boy, am i glad i did!! and every year since then we have had the same freakish weather. you get a bad storm in gringolandia, you can bet the weather here will be affected.
