As a beer drinker I enjoy a good strong ale or stout. Also IPA’s the bitter the better. I know that Costa Rica serves Imperial, Pilsen, Bavaria, and Rock Ice. Do you know if they have beer stores that you can purchased something other than their brands and just how expensive would they be if so?
The choice in real ales is pitiful here…
I buy Leffe (blond and dark) which is a Belgian ale which can be found in most quality supermarkets, there are two California ales – Red Seal and Scrimshaws which I buy in Fresh Markets supermarket and you can find bottles of Guinness export (strong) in AutoMercado too…
IMHO the locally brewed beer that comes closest to an ale in Costa Rica – which is NOT that close – is a beer simply called 1460 but sometimes it’s difficult to find.

Is there a place where you can get a pint of Guinness on tap?
Can you get Beck’s anywhere? ( not non-alcoholic, as I was in Ireland last month and bought a case and after drinking 6 bottles noticed it was non-alcoholic, boy did I get razzed)
I enjoy Hoegaarden once a week. Check out http://www.imperialbeerboutique.com
