Hey, first post, glad to be a part of the community here.
I have taken time to use the search function and see there is alot of pessimism about the construction of the airport.
Is there anyone who has been in the area recently or knows of any new updates current that can shed light on this,
I am probably going to travel to CR sometime in 2010 maybe see it first hand.
What airport exactly are you referring to?

Palmar Norte
iv read a 2012 construction time with 2013 being the year it opens
but really i would like some concrete evidence this is in motion… maybe excavation of land… I mean we could go by the hospital being built as a ‘sign’.
You may not have seen my articles written over the past five years on this subject:

As far as I know, nothing has happened but will try and find out if anything has begun…

thanks i did see those posts, very informative and got me questioning buying in Uvita. The airport needs to happen for prices to skyrocket no?
I don’t honestly see it happening…
There may be enough business/tourism to support a small local airport but, as I have been saying for about five years now, I do not believe that there is enough business/tourism/hotels to justify (and pay for) a new “international airport.”
As for skyrocketing prices in that area? I may be wrong but I doubt we’ll see that in our lifetime…

Patience, Scott.
If they are clear up to budgeting for a study he might find an airport there say in 2040 or 50. Might even be large enough to handle a Lear.
Everything comes in Tico time.
As for skyrocketing prices in that area? I think the prices are already high… but a high price for one is a good deal for another…
