Instead of governments waking up to the fact that they need to provide services and incentives to keep their citizens happy, to attract billionaires and investments to their shores – like Singapore where there is very low income tax and no capital gains or inheritance taxes – the U.S. wants to create laws to scare the crap out of them?
Brilliant move which is guaranteed to backfire!
We should also remember that people like Saverin can obviously afford to hire the best estate planning attorneys in the world, they can create tax advantaged multi-jurisdictional trusts and foundations and offshore insurance companies to protect their assets, as always it will be the regular guy who will suffer the consequences…

So happy that you made sure to point out to all your readers that Mr. Saverin is Jewish!!! Does his religion make a difference to the story? Obviously it does to you Scott.
It makes no difference to me whatsoever “gkbiz,” I was merely stressing the fact that since Mr. Saverin was born outside of the U.S, and he has been living in Singapore since 2009, he is very much an “international” man and not just someone who’s made a ton of money and now wants to flee the U.S.
If you don’t like the fact that Wikipedia mentions that he is Jewish, please do feel free to waste your time emailing them your comments.

Agree with everything you said. The greed, compulsive spending, and corrupt personalities attracted to all things political is hard to watch. I feel so bad for my teenage daughter with the way things are going in the US…

I also feel a deep sadness for my 18 year old son and his generation. College grads have made themselves debt slaves for life to obtain degrees in worthlessness. They go into a world filled up with hopes made false by a collapsing economy and a thoroughly destructive and corrupted government. This latest tax thing is another tightening of the noose.

I have to totally agree with Scott on this and that doesn’t happen often when he involves politics.

Knowing a person’s heritage and background does tell you a lot about a person – and knowing that he is Jewish – tells me a lot about him. Reading your comment also tells me a lot about you gkbiz. It is to bad these have to end up being about an issue other than the real issue. The government taking action again him regardless of where he was born or what religion he is would be the real issue… This type of government attack on sucessful people is the issue. The U.S. need to stop an over reaching oppressive government.
