We will be building soon, and I was told by someone that they would never buy LG mini splits again, because they are very hard to get serviced in Costa Rica.
Does anybody have a strong opinion on the best brand of mini split to use?
    Thanks.

We are using Air-Pros and have had good luck with them….that being said, we still need to have them serviced almost one a year..we live on the beach….and the remotes are not the best quality….

Interesting you mention LG. We have always liked LG products and their reliability, but after using them at the beach in a hotel setting, we have started using Korean Samsung.

At the beach we need a lot of A/C servicing and when an LG breaks down it can be weeks to get parts. The guests won’t wait that long.

It is hard to get the same brand each time as importers seem to buy the cheapest they can find. There are some truly lousy units available right now. Brand names that are similar to well known companies but far lower quality. You need to know a good A/C technician in this country if you live near the beach.

In the mountains…… who cares. We don’t even own one.

We have used Samsungs. You can buy them at EPA and have 3 year warranties. All the AC guys can work on them as well.

I have been in the A/C business for over 20 years. The Samsung and Mitsubishi are the best out there. There are many Chinese makers now, which most are of poor quality.

Don’t see either of those very much on the coast…central is very expensive to maintain, and why cool all the rooms ? Mini-splits work great, and you can select which rooms you want cool. Central system goes out and you’ll be waiting, and waiting for the repairman with a hand full of Colones….
