Home › Forums › Costa Rica Living Forum › Prescription drugs that aren’t available in Costa Rica-how to get them
My wife and I are in the Jaco area and are currently looking into options to fill some of our prescriptions. We have found that there are several that are available here (a very good thing) but there are at least a couple that don’t seem to be accessible here, even at CIMA. I know we could get them shipped back to the our house in the states, but that still would require a trip back.
If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.
Pura Vida,
Lou
Lou, by now you will have realized that your meds, vitamins or food supplements cannot be shipped by courier or mailed via the Post office, without an import permit. Each Rx requires a separate permit, possibly a broker and your cedula information and a trip to El Roble, Caldera to retrieve them. So unless you have ‘friends’ who can bring them it looks like you will need to make that trip.
I agree with the last comment about the impossibility of receiving your drugs here,. They even tax you on them if by chance you find a way to get them. However I think that people should network to bring in our needed prescriptions. It has been done for me and I have done it for others. Sometimes you can find a substitute for a drug that you take in the states in CR.
