This thing in a closed room will filter the air (they claim), thus if you have 5 rooms will you need 5 of them. this is only treating the symptoms of the problem; which is high humidity.
If your really having health Issues, I would go with an ERV and a dehumidifier or an A/C unit with an ERV. An ERV is an energy recovery ventilator, if you have a tight house this will filter all the air that goes in and out while help maintaining the humidity level in the house (no need to open windows or doors for fresh air). the dehumidifier does exactly that (most come with some kind of filtration system too) This of course is more expensive then the Perfect air 5000 but not if your going to put it in every room. With either the perfect air 5000 or the ERV/dehumidifier system or even A/C you have to have a some what tight house. With either system, you could open up the house when the humidity is to your happy level. If you have A/C that will take care of the humidity issue and most issues (most A/C units have some sort of filtration system especially Mini Splits.
You can google ERV and dehumidifiers, I won’t post a link here in fear it will be deleted but I have had excellent experience with Santa FE whole house dehumidifiers.
In conclusion, if I lived in a hot part of Costa Rica I would just try to seal up the house as best as possible and use A/C and an ERV (again an ERV allows you to keep all the windows and doors closed while bringing in fresh filtered air, while maintaining the inside temperature and humidity). If you live in a milder climate I would go with a house dehumidifier and ERV.
Just some numbers:
For a 2000 square foot home:
An ERV uses about 100 watts an hour for ventilation (The Max amount would be about 2.4 KW a day (you can run it on a lower level if you don’t have a full house filled with people and dogs) at 12 cents a KW that would be about 30 cents a day or $9 a month.
A house dehumidifier uses much more power but it doesn’t run constantly, when its running our Santa Fe classic uses about 600 watts an hour but if you have a good tight house it will only run for about 1-5 KW a day (depending again how tight your house is and if your using and ERV)
An A/C unit is going to use much more power even if your using energy saving Mini-splits. but then again isn’t the extra doe and higher power bill worth your health?

Having said that, I ONLY recommend people I know personally and trust implicitly and, that applies to products too…

The gentleman above needs to read the notes regarding our shock treatments to UNOCCUPIED spaces. We also recommend the Perfect air 5000 be turned to full power ONLY WHEN THE AREAS ARE UNOCCUPIED. At this full power level the Perfect Air 5000 produces more than enough ozone to kill germs, virus and mold. Like I told you. Turn the machine on full while you are away or out of the room and the door is closed. When you intend to occupy the room turn the 03 off or very low.
I will be happy to give anyone who doubts the effectiveness of our equipment a FREE demonstration in their home or office. If it works they can pay me the retail price. In 40 years I have never had to do a treatment for free. This does work 100% of the time unless they have a swamp in their walls or standing water in their rooms.

Where is your documentation from an independent source that says it works, where as how do you explain the link I pasted above and the other sources out there that are independent of selling such devices that say they don’t work. Please read the article above which comes from Connecticut Department of Public Health Environmental Health Section it is very detailed….. there are other links on the site also to show the science of it.
Furthermore from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency:

I was actually trying to be gentle in my last posts…respect for Scott. As a Respiratory Therapists, we steer our patients away from such useless devices, furthermore they are harmful to the patient as they would use such a device thinking it would help while not actually getting the correct device that would work. By the way Hepa filters actually work really well. The best device out there is a ERV with a Hepa filter on it, In the US, they are about the same price as your ozone polluter.

Seriously, are you saying that you can see the mold dying or the airborne spores etc dying. There are many devices that will get odors out of a room but does that mean its actually killing the “bad germs”. If a child has asthma and was sick, would you actually recommend your device over an ERV with a hepa (not to mention for the same cost)?“The key words in all of your information are CAN CAUSE, CAN BE, CAN DAMAGE. Anything in to high a level CAN cause a problem. This is why we have the adjustable o3 adjustment. I have been in this business for over 40 years. I have used a form of my equipment for all this time. I have hundreds of friends and relatives who for years have relied on this equipment to keep their air pure and fresh.
Again “Try it you may like it.””I have treated a condo at Reserva Conchal with 4 inches of black mold on the base boards. We closed the unit up tight, reversed the ceiling fans to pull air from the floors. This is because ozone is heavier than oxygen.
Because of the heavy infestation of mold in this unit I ran my PA 24000 machine for 5 days. When I came back the mold had turned to dust. Grey powder. Totally destroyed.
The owners then locked up the condo for several months. They shut off the electricity and closed it up tight. We kept an eye on the unit every 30 days and after 6 months NO MOLD had began to regrow. It could not. The DNA of the mold was destroyed.
I am not saying that some people may not tolerate ozone well. My wife hates the smell. She does like the fact she does not have headaches every morning while in costa Rica. So I run the Perfect Air 5000 on very low when she is in our home. When we are away I run it full power.
You are a doctor so you know everyone is different. This is probably why there are hundreds of pills for every ailment and hundreds of different treatments for different respritory ailements.I have thousands of happy customers in the US and Canada. We have some really good recommendation letters from Costa Rica customers on my web site.
I know I personally in 55 years I have tried hundreds of drugs for my allergies and asthma. I have been through numerous respritory therapy sessions using all kinds of inhalers. I have had to inject myself to keep breathing. So far the ozone machine has helped me the most.

Why would someone pick your product with fuzzy science when there are other products that are scientifically proven to work?
I will say this even with an ERV, if your sick because of the quality of the air, you really should control the humidity inside and if you have carpets, they should also go (less dust mites etc.). Of course not smoking or allowing smokers in the house will also help greatly. For mold, its all in the humidity……….Hey we finally have a lively thread LOL

What do you recommend for a “SICK HOUSE”? If a patient comes to you and their home is making them sick. From plastics, carpets, the smelly finishes on new hard wood floors? What can you do for the house?
This is where we come in. All of the chemicals, all of the products used in our homes release continually, we can destroy. Stop the chemmicals from harming the occupants.
Mold is only one form of poison in the air. I can go on and on about the different chemicals used in plastics. (I worked in a plastic manufacturing plant when I was young) We made plstic bowls and covers. Did you know that some plastics that were and may still be used, when heated to 200 degrees releases a deadly poison gas? I had to wear a fresh air mask to run the injection molding equipment when we made them. Think about microwaveing your dinner in a plastic bowl? You may be killing yourself slowly.

If it were my patient in this house, ventilate, ventilate and ventilate, if possible remove the irritating carpet and the other irritants. Also if possible stay out of the house for a couple of days until the smell of paints, finishes etc. taper down.
Wayne, I guess we are just not going to agree on this, Of course I am always open to any independent scientific studies that you may have on it, you can send then through the website. But please, please don’t sell these things to sick asthmatic children! Adults have a choice.
