This forum is quite interesting due to the broad nature of topics discussed.
However, I have seen quite a few people lately who express strong political views and are rebuffed by the forum members as ^NOT BEING COSTA RICA RELATED^

Correct me if I am wrong, but many people move to Costa Rica–and other places as well because of a chance at a better life, a more rich experience and possibly a higher standard of living than can be afforded in one`s home country.

But my friends, we live in interesting times—
Governemnts the world over are broke, taxes are being pushed on those least capable of bearing the burden and the fires or anger rage in people from The Tea Parties in the US, to the orphaned refugies in the middle east–to people protesting Gold Mining in Las Crucitas (Costa Rica), to jobless people in europe

But the nerve of some of the uniformed, uneducated or simply catatonic people who are incensed by open dicussion and free views is more than a bit shocking

Its like anything else people–if you want to bury your head anywhere (preferably in the sand) please feel free
but being that politics has reared its ugly head into every facet of our lives–such as
proving where your money comes from–imagine this 100 years ago
having to be scanned everywhere, banks, airports, and governemnt offices–yes in costa rica as well
fines going through the roof–and more cops lining their pockets in the name of enforcing them (definitely Costa Rica related)
permits, passes, permisos, tribute, taxes –etc etc

Many people here live on pensions and don`t realize that their leaders are selling them down a creek without a paddle–have you heard of what austerity measures are doing to pensions in greece

Yes—it affects everyone-including YOU-whether you would like to discuss this or not. But please dont kill the messenger

    Have a nice day

I used to be rebuked for this frequently – but really those that complained just didnt like what I said. Screw the forum bullies -these people want to tell you what you can say and where….they sound like socialists to me. Which brings me to the point that the experiment with socialism will soon be coming to an end just like communism before it… sorry did I go off subject?

    mindfulobserver,

You are right on point. Knowledge is power, something the politicians wish we did not possess. Living in Costa Rica does not make american expats immune from U.S. politics!
