New Immigration Law and Marriage

Since the new law states with marriage to a Costa Rican, you have a one year temporary residency which can be renewed, what are the immigrant benefits during the temporary residency years …. the “Caja” only? Are there any negatives to not applying for permanent residency when eligible and going straight for “naturalization”? Can you work? Some of this is hard to understand. Thanks for any help.!
