I was reading about a nurse who is planning to come to Costa Rica for treatment for MS which I think is Multiple Sclerosis no?
Is this big business in Costa Rica?
Have any of you experienced medical tourism type treatments already in Costa Rica for serious medical conditions?
Can you share please?
August 19, 2010 at 8:01 pm #169062AndrewKeymasterMedical tourism is certainly a rapidly growing business in Costa Rica.
I know many people who have had cosmetic surgery and my own dentists helps hundreds of American with dental treatments, I don’t personally know anyone who has been here for MS treatment..
Anyone else heard anything?

In the realm of traditional medical care, MS is a generally downhill slide for which there is no cure. As always, someone will step in and hold out hope where there is none.
That said, at least conventional medical care in Costa Rica is a real bargain offered by top-flight practitioners.

I note that there has been mention of MS treatment on the board lately and although there is no cure for the disease, is there reason for someone to travel to CR to seek treatment?
The reason I ask is that I have a friend in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico who has the disease. I believe she is receiving good treatment at the moment and money is not a problem, I was just wondering if she might look to CR for something new?

I always thought it was attributed to grunge music and coffee houses but you gotta be on to something.

MS treatment complication causes death
Posted Friday, November 19, 2010 at 10:24 AM from 68.70.76.22Canadian dies from MS treatment. Just posting the article. I am not knocking the treatment.
November 19, 2010 at 4:36 pm #169074AndrewKeymasterJust received this URL too from a positive MS story …
“Once the procedure was done and I saw the changes immediately in her, I just felt the weight of the world lifted off me,” said Frank….
There are risks associated with every surgical procedure and if this company is “sending almost 80 patients per month to Costa Rica for this treatment”, (according to the article) it was only a matter of time before some serious complication arose…
November 19, 2010 at 5:22 pm #169075costaricafincaParticipantI guess people who are living with this disease are responsible for their own choices….and are hopeful that life may get better for them. And who can blame them?
I hope this is a successful treatment for many. -
