Hi,
Anyone know a notary for US papers other than the US Embassy?
Thanks
this questions gets asked every couple of months and the answer is still the same — a US notary cannot legally notarize documents outside of their state’s jusrisdiction. what documents do you need notarized and why can’t a CR notary do it? i’ve filed several different documents in the States that were notarized by a notario here and nobody batted an eye. otherwise, it’s the embajada for a LEGAL US notary and a lot of money.
Yup, we’ve used Costa Rican notaries on a couple or three occasions for U.S.-related transactions, but it depends upon what the issuer of the document will tolerate. In some cases, there is no alternative to using the notary services at the U.S. Embassy.
