Is it a good idea to bring a large motorcycle into Costa Rica as transportation? What would the duty be on a Honda Goldwing? Thanks.
I am a harley rider in the USA but it was rare to see a large bike in CR. Lots of 125 cc or 250 cc running around. I would rent a bike in San Jose and try riding before going to all the expense to bring in a GoldWing.

You dont want a Goldwing in CR.
You want a Dual Sport. Seriously.
I no longer ride, but if I did, I wouldn’t be riding a heavyweight in Costa Rica unless I planned never to take it off the autopista. The roads here are too unpredictable. The combination of poor surfaces, tight turns, and traffic laws that exist mostly in the minds of lawmakers would combine to make horsing a Gold Wing or a big Harley around a nightmare. What’s more, motorcycle riders here get much less consideration than they do in North America. For the most part, they’re relegated to the shoulder of the road and given no right to the lane itself — hardly a comfortable environment for a Gold Wing.
You might consider a large dual sport, such as one of the big BMWs, but consider, too, the matter of parts and service.
Oh! And this is not a place where you’ll be universally comfortable in a good set of leathers.
