You need to check with your airlines for their guidelines on shipping animals. Some have an air temperature restriction, which may apply during the months of July and August.
You will need a health certificate from your veterinarian special for international travel. Also, do not depend on the airlines reservations line for any information as it is often conflicting. Cargo offices know the laws much better. You will also need a customs broker here in Costa Rica to assist you with receiving your dog on this end. I just shipped a dog from Canada and would be happy to answer any other questions you might have about the process if you want to email me direct.
