Thank you all for your responses. If I were to concnetrate in the Pacific coast, what international airport is there that I could fly from the US?
Thx Frank
eithere liberia for the north pacific(Guanacaste) or San Jose for central to southern.
Be careful flying in/out of Liberia though. They’re kindof what you’d call a “podunk” airport that does things pretty screwy.
When we flew out of Liberia our last time in CR, they went through our luggage, read the ingredients on EVERY bottle and threw out anything that said flammable on it.
That included hair gel (non-aerosol), bug spray (non-aerosol), alcohol, etc, and they tried to throw out my wife’s CK perfume.
How did you deal with that?
We’ve used Liberia as often as San Jose and prefer Liberia because there is so much congestion at and around San Jose. When we fly out of Liberia, yes, they search your bags right in front of you. I think the only difference is the airport is small and they don’t have an area to do it after the bag is checked. It’s my understanding that the bags on all international flights are searched, it’s just uncomfortable when your underwear is out there for everyone to see. We still prefer Liberia if you’re going to a Pacific destination.
