Rob and Amy,
I have owned property on the Lake above the little town of El Castillo for over 10 years. From La Fortuna, you pass the Tabacon Resort, then take a left towards El Castillo. The area has a great view of the lake and the volcano and is only 30 minutes to La Fortuna. It is also not windy since it is on the leeward side of the volcano. I would recommend staying at the Arenal Observatory Lodge, or the Linda Vista del Norte to check it out. Good luck and let us know what you find. Ben
