I recently formed a corp. where I plan to place my condo I will be buying in May 07. I want to open a bank account at Banco Nacional.
tied to the corp? Thanks to this forum I understand I need one or two bank reference letters. What info should this letter contain?. Do the letters need to be addressed to Banco Nacional. I am not a resident of CR.
    Thanks,

You should walk into the bank and try to open the account without references first.

If you need references, find someone who has an established account with the bank and the lawyer who help you with the setup of the corporation.

I item I carry with me is a original letter from my abagado that states that I have permission to do business for the corporation.

You will need an another original letter that can be used with ICE to obtain a cell phone.

I just opened my acct at BCR in Jaco. My abogado provided a letter of intro, a utility receipt (the corp is housed at his office) and a persona jurisdica (check the spelling) naming me the director of the corp. A persona jurisdica is only good for 30 days.
The lawyer called the bank and they did a computer check on the corp. It takes 1 business day to clear.
A nice girl with enough english to get by opened a savings acct (in dollars)for me in the name of the corp. The debit card was issued a week later. I left the country but had the abogado’s office worker pick up the card and hold it in their safe. For this I needed a notarized letter to the bank.
I walked into a BCR branch in SJO and made a deposit the following day.

If your plans include using the card out of Costa Rica, make sure they have issued an international use card.

BCR issues in country only cards, also.
