    Hello
I really have enjoyed your site Scott and all those who comment on it. We’re hoping that your readers or yourself can recommend a B&B as we are arriving 11 pm on Feb. 27/07 and know we will not feel like looking at that time…a small hotel would also be great.
We will be off to the Pacific coast after a couple of days on our house hunting trip and just need a comfortable place to get all our paperwork ect. together. Also if anyone knows of a place to rent safety deposit boxes in San Jose it would be appreciated.
    Best regards.

    1. We have had terrific comments from people who have stayed at the Alta Hotel at . You can find their special offers at: Or, call toll free from USA & Canada 1-888-388-2582

    2. You may also wish to take a look at the Hotel San Gildar at and you can see their rates at

    3. PROBABLY THE BEST LITTLE HOTEL IN SANJOSE – If you would prefer to be in a small, luxurious hotel in San José, please see the Hotel Grano de Oro (coffee bean) which is on calle 30 between avenidas 2 & 4. The rooms are gorgeous, the garden restaurant is delightful (and all proceeds from the restaurant go to charity), the ambience is excellent, the food is good and the service is great!

You can see their rates at and make reservations at

    4. A very affordably priced hotel in San José is Apartotel Cristina which you can see at and you can see their rates at or…

    5. The Sleep Inn is probably the newest hotel in downtown San Jose which you can see at

    6. You might also want to see where you could also get a fully furnished one bedroom suite for only US$1,165 per month

If you do not wish to rent a car, you might ask them to arrange for someone to pick you up at the airport. If not, there are always clean, reliable and safe taxis at the airport.

    Hi Scott
Once again I have to thank you, not only for the info, but the speed in which you got it to us.
We’ll certainly be looking you up when we get settled, to thank you personally.
We’ve lived in many places around the world, but this is the most welcome we’ve felt and we have’nt arrived yet.
    Regards

i liked siempreverde at 55$ per day in an old but not shabby plantation house on a coffee plantation. leave the airport turn left at alajuela turn-off from the autopista and head up the hill, thru town, following signs to volcan poas (basically straight) until you see the sign for siempreverde and turn left. you’re there.say hi to jose from the raider guy (viva las piratas !)i’m going back next year.www.siempreverdebandb.com. good luck, crayzrj

Thanks everyone, we are going to try as many of the suggested places as possible and will certainly tell the operators who recommended them.
Your responses were better than we could have expected.
    Best to all.

We have property in Jaco and normally use the Garden Court which is across the street from the airport and has a free shuttle service. It clean and friendly and across the parking lot from the Fiesta Casino and a really good Dennys. We then use the srvices of Interbus to get us to Jaco and back. Inexpensive, and good drivers. Have rented cars at the airport but expensive and the drive over the mountains to the coast can be a real bear with slow moving trucks, and blind curves. Its cheaper to rent a car for a few days in Jaco for whatever running around we do.Normally we get an early flight into CR we take the shuttle to the hotel and wait there for the bus. Returning we take the bus to the hotel, stay there and get an early flight home. One other hint. You can rent a mobile phone from Andre at the airport free but $1.00 a minute for local AND calls to and from the US. Lot cheaper than using hotel phones, but many internet cafe’s have cheep phone serviceto the US as well.
