Hola everyone, we are returning to CR next month and the Marchamo and rtv on our vehicle have expired. We read on anouther forum that the Transito Police are pulling vehicles over that have no red 2007 sticker ,seizing their plates and towing the vehicle. Our jeep is in Peurto Viejo and we need to go to Limon to get tested for RTV. Apparentley then it takes 24hrs for the RTV info to get into the Marchamo computers.Does anyone know if we can get a permit or permission to take the vehicle through any roadblocks we might encounter? We were out of the country since last August.

‘If’ they see you, the police will pull your vehicles over if it does not have the 2007 sticker and when it comes to dealing with local authorities, whatever answer someone gives you here in this forum would be more of a guess that an answer that you could really rely on… Including mine.

The last thing in the world I want to do is to waste half a day and take my car to the RTV and we have a terrific guy that does all of that stuff for my car and my ladies but he’s here and not where you are.

I pay my marchamo online and then visit the bank to collect the sticker to put on the window.

If you are only living here part time I guess you will have to pay someone to take care of this for you each year. In the meantime, is there not a friendly tow truck guy locally whom you can hire to check out the car, give it a service and take it for the RTV?

It’s going to cost you a couple hundred bucks probably but better than having your car impounded …

Why don’t you go with 2 cars with both a mobile phone ? You friend keeps driving one kilometer ahead and warns you when there is a roadblock, so you have time to stop and turn or take another road.
Or get your car transported on a car-trailer.

Hola and thank you both for the reply. We will get our mechanic on the East coast to deal with it when we get there.
