My husband is a Chiropractor and we are considering moving to Costa Rica. I’ve been reading this website, which, by the way is absolutely wonderful! I’ve tried to learn about the legalities of moving to Costa Rica, but it’s quite overwhelming and there is not much out there about how Chiropractors can legally practice there. We have found out that there is a Colegio de Profesionales Quiropracticos that has been formed, but a lot is still being developed. I have also read that it’s important to get an attorney to help with getting the papers to practice there.

We have a couple of questions. Does anyone have any recommendations for a reliable attorney who might be knowledgeable and experienced with dealing with Chiropractors moving to Costa Rica. We are bilingual so language is not a problem for us.

We’ve been trying to research Chiropractors who practice in San Jose and it’s outskirts. I read the article in this website about Dr. Spitzer. I’m not sure how old this article is, but we were trying to find a way of getting in touch with him and other Chiropractors. I don’t know, maybe I’m missing something, but it’s quite difficult to find emails, addresses or phone numbers of Chiropractic offices through the internet. Any recommendations? We’d greatly appreciate any contact information of any Chiropractor who might be looking for help.

    Thank you so much!!

I don’t know where Dr. Ben Spitzer went and although he was a terrific chiropractor for my back, we parted on bad terms.

For a discount, I am happy to pay in advance and I paid Ben six months in advance whcih is a decent chunk of change and the very next week he introduced me to the ‘new’ chiropractor that had just bought his practise.

I was bloody furious especially when the new chiropractor was less than useless at adjusting me. Needless to say Spitzer refused to refund my money and he has gone – I don’t know where.

The new chiropractor lasted a few months in that location and then the office was shut down, I believe it’s a beauty salon now which doesn’t do me any good, I’m way beyond helping in that area but I do miss the six months worth of adjustments that I paid for and didn’t receive.

You might call my chiropractor Dr. Jim Mclellan his telephone number is listed in his article at and if I am not mistaken, he is actually helping to form some organziation of chiropractors here.

I have nothing but terrific things to say about him…

Scott, thank you for referring me to the article about Dr. Jim. I obviously didn’t do very good with my searching the web! I now see all the articles on your website that refer to Dr. Jim. I had read the article about Dr. Ricky Brown, though. Was he your chiropractor as well? Is he still practicing in Costa Rica? Just curious.

It sounds like Dr. Jim would know what needs to be done to practice in CR legally. We will give him a call soon. Thank you! How long has he been practicing in CR? Just curious once again.

    Mil gracias!
