I have just bought a house that needs renovations. Would anyone know of good suppliers of furniture, glass doors, windows, stone and glass tiles in the central valley?
    Thanks

Those are lots of questions, Mangrove. Locally made furniture is available from many vendors in Sarchi. Imported furniture is available at a handful of stores in and around San Jose that cater to more affluent Costa Ricans and Americans. Glass doors and windows are typically supplied by local small businesses in whatever town you’re in or nearby. Check with an architect or your local ferreteria for references. There are many sources of tile and stone. Tell us a little more about what you’re looking for.

I have built condos and homes and remodeled existing housing in Costa Rica since 1992. In the course of conducting my construction business I have purchased and installed hundreds of pieces of furniture built-in and free standing. I just completed a remodeling project in Belen and furnished the units with recently purchased furniture. I am familiar with all the current costs to remodel and source furniture. If you would like to work with a professional send me a message.

    Dear Mangrove:
There are a lot of companies that sells furniture. You can go to San Jose and look at all the different prices and styles available. But when you want to decorate your house the best choice is finding an interior design company that can offer everything you need and you will deal with only one person.
When you locate a firm there are important questions to ask:
Do you have a certificated interior designer in this company?
    Where he or she graduate?
Where he or she works before?
Do you have a portfolio of other projects that I can see?
What kind of furniture you have available?
    Which brands?
    Where they built that furniture?
What type of wood do you use?
What kind of fabrics they use?
What is the difference between the furniture that I have to buy for a beach condo instead a city condo?
And the most important question… Do you have a WARRANTY on your furniture and fabrics?
A lot of companies and people offer “interior design services” but there are only a few that really know what they are doing.
If you need some firm names contact me and I will be very glad to help you.
    Regards,
