I have been doing some research for an upcoming visit to Costa Rica and am looking for input on developers. Can anyone recommend developers that use environmentally responsible methods in building and relating to the culture? Thanks

Last month I was invited to inspect a building lot for a client in new project on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast that focuses on ecological development of the infrastructure and conservation of the existing natural environment. It is located in the area known as Playa Grande just outside of Matapalo in the province of Guanacaste and access is via a newly paved public road, forty five minutes from the Liberia International airport.
This new project is named Baula Hills and is located on a high elevation approximately two kilometers from the beach at Playa Grande, adjacent to the Las Colinas Golf Course. The majority of the lots I saw had views of the Pacific Ocean and Playa’s Grande and Tamarindo.
The primary goal of the development team is to blend the individual lots into the existing natural forest. Extensive design and care have been taken to create a biologically compatible waste treatment system apart from the natural spring aquifers that supply the clean drinking water. All of the winding streets will be constructed of natural brick pavers and all water and electrical distribution is now being installed underground.

Prior to relocating to Costa Rica and working for a developer, I searched for a developer who was doing everything possible to develop socially and environmentally responsible. I chose SeaBreeze Mountain which is based out of Tamarindo, however the development is 15 minutes from the new JW Marriott that is being built in Hacienda Pinilla. We have implemented wind mill power, solar panels, state of the art water treatment for each of the individual homes which produces 95% clean water. We also are heavily involved with the improvement of living standards in Las Delicias. We provide job training, English classes, are building a new church, renovating the school and donating to special needs of the community…just to name a few.
I have read a lot of negative about developers, however there are a few good developers who really do care and are not just talking about it. That is why I would recommend SeaBreeze Mountain and why I chose to work for them.

He has a business called Arquieco S.A. and specializes in ecologically friendly design , incorporating building design with the environment, protecting nature. his name is Hernan Jimenez and his assistant is Joanna Cruz, arquieco@gmail.com . Maybe they can help you with a reference. Let them know Charlie Quesada referred. I don’t get paid, he rents his office from me for over 15 years.
