My wife and I have been considering putting a small log cabin on our land in San Carlos. I know there is a company (EcoCabinas?) in Alajuela that constructs these. Does anyone have any pros/cons about log cabin construction down there? costs? etc?
My neighbor put up a log cabin. They didn’t chink it properly, (actually, I don’t think they chinked it at all) so the poor guy had mushrooms growing on the inside of his house. He is also getting the brunt of the wind and mist blowing from the north, so the backside of his cabin is almost always covered in green stuff, and it looks pretty weather-beaten in general. Maybe weather conditions in San Carlos are more conducive to this type of construction, but it doesn’t work well in a pre-montane climate, which is where we are.
do you know what company your neighbor went with to build their cabin?

The owner of the house doesn’t remember the name of the company so I have to ask the developer who is on vacation for the next two weeks.
