Hi, my husband and I are visiting the Coco area end of January 2008 to end of eb. Anyone have some tips for us, what to do, what to see, good hangouts? We have been through Costa Rica a few years ago abut not this area. Checking into possibly staying 6 months next year. We are canadians in our 40’s. thanks!

    Hi Angie:
I assume you are speaking of Playas del Coco near Hermosa and Playa Panama? If so, there is plenty to do in Cocos. There are lots of restaurants, shops, bars and beach to keep you busy. I personally don’t care for the beach at Cocos at all. Just travel a little north or south to the beaches of Hermosa or Ocotal. Those are nicer than Cocos. Papagayo Seafood and Papagayo Steakhouse are great restaurants in Cocos proper. Father Roosters in Ocotal is a good hang out as well. Ginger is a good restaurant in Hermosa. There are a few casinos in Cocos if you are into that…There is plenty to do in terms of being outdoors. There is some great diving, boat tours, fishing, ATV, canopy tours, etc to do in the area. If you have a car you may want to check out the beaches to the south as well as Rincon de La Vieja volcano (northeast of Cocos) and maybe Africa Mia Safari in Liberia as well. Have fun!

Hi Angie: Cocos is a dark sand beach and I feel as though there are just nicer beaches. Of course, everyone has their own opinion on the beach, that’s just mine… Have a great time!
