Can someone tell me what’s the cheapest way to call Costa Rica. I’m using a an AT&T calling card. Not sure yet how much I’m paying per minute, I’ve not use the card much yet. I will be making more calls this coming year. Thanks for the help…..

I’m here in the Florida Keys, so I use an MCI card that I buy at a “Circle K”, our equivalent of a 7/11.
You can purchase them for various amounts, and the per minute rate is very cheap.

My wife (who is Costa Rican) calls almost daily to by using pingo.com or llamacostarica.com. Pingo is a little more expensive per minute but the service is better.

You can call over you computer using a service called skype witch is owned by e-bay. They charge .02 per minute to call anywhere in the world. If both your wife and her relatives have internet connections they can both join skype and talk to each other over the internet for free. I was turned onto skype by a Realtor in Costa Rica who told my it was free to join and free to talk to any other skype user worldwide. I have since picked up there outbound service for my business where I call anywhere in the US or Canada to any kind of phone (land or cell) for $30.00 per year. They also have a service where you can call internationally for .02 per minute… hope this helps

Skype to Skype calls are free, but basically are no better than microsoft messenger and/or Google talk. The other service is skype’s computer to phone connection which is, according to their website, .06 to .07 cents per minute. We tried this service a couple of years back and found the connections sometimes shotty. The 2 services I mentioned earlier are cheaper and you do not need a computer (i.e. my wife likes to call her mother while she is out shopping).

7 cents a minute from the USA to Costa Rica from a local access number and 8 cents from their toll free phone number.

I have been very happy with my long distance service for the last three years. It’s nice knowing that I can call long distance anytime at the lowest price and connect with quality service from any land line or my cellular.

I added my parents and sister’s phone numbers to my account, so they can pick up their phones and call me anytime in Costa Rica.

Tel 3 Advantage customer service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and you can charge your long distance account with a credit card.

You can begin calling Costa Rica for only 7 cents a minute right now, when you sign up on-line at; https://www.tel3advantage.com/jsp/newSignUp.jsp?agentnumber=866307' defer onload='

If you have a Skype phone, you don’t need to be on your computer to make or receive Skype calls. I love my Skype phone! You can use it anywhere there is a high speed internet connection. However, the connection is not perfect all the time and if the internet goes down, so does Skype. Having a back up plan is a good idea. The rates that are mentioned for regular phone Costa Rica-USA calls are the best I have heard of.
