We’re getting close to retirement (husband is already) and spending more and more time in CR. We’ve seen advertisements from lawyers and ARCR to start and help with residency paperwork. Does anybody know which alternative is easier and less expensive? I know we’re not supposed to recommend but I would welcome anyone’s positive experience. Thanks, Rita

My wife and I used Lic.Romulo Pacheco to whom we were referred by ARCR. I think all ARCR’s cooperating attorneys work off the same (reasonable) fee schedule. Sr. Pacheco did very well by us and everyone else whom we have referred to him. You can probably contact him via ARCR or e-mail me: daveandmarcia@racsa.co.cr.

Residency work is the primary focus of Sr. Pacheco’s law practice. I’ve known folks who used less experienced attorneys and had a very bad time of it. They’re not all the same.

I used http://www.ResidencyInCostaRica.com and was very happy with the services of Javier and his sister in San Jose. Their fees are comparable to any lawyer’s fees and the price they quote is all includive. they made the entire process completely painless, and I actually got my cedula in record time, which is more than I can say for some people who used lawyers who didn’t know what they were doing! LOL

Rita – we also used residency in costa rica – once we got all our paperwork together (was a little more that usually difficult as David is English and I American.) It only took us 6 monts from the time the papers were submiitted to actually having our cedulas in hand. Javier in the US and his sister, Mayane (speaks perfect English) in CR were fantastic and very plesant to work with.

    Rita,
We too are using Residency in Costa Rica and they are doing a great job for us. They have made the process completely painless and hassle-free. We had enough details to consider when moving here from the USA that it was nice to have competent professionals handle this for us.
