My son, who is 14 years old, ran into problems at school in the US. I pulled him out of school and sent him down to live with his grandparents who are Costa Rican. He has been there since January 1, 2008 and he loves it. He lives in a remote area in the Guapiles area. The private school that he attends is a better education than he has received in the US. The kids are respectful to each other.

That’s wonderful to hear and I’m sure that you are sleeping better now…

1.Would you mind telling us in which city in the USA he was living an going to school?
    2. Was you son already speaking Spanish when he came here? If not, how is your son getting on with Spanish?
    3. Why exactly do you think the education he is getting is is ‘better’ here?

I would love to know your thoughts…

Best wishes and here’s hoping he can stay out of “problems” here and enjoy life…

    1. He was going to a public regional high school in CT.
    2. He was not speaking spanish when he went down there. He is now in a bilingual school but the classes that he is taking is only in spanish. He has adjusted to the language barrier and continues to progress.
    3. He likes the teachers at his new school and the environment is one that fosters learning. It seems like you do not have the bullying that goes on at his previous school.
    4. I will see him at the end of the month. Actually got a direct flight out of NYC for $309.00 round trip…WOW!!
