My husband is a disabled veteren. If we decided to relocate to CR he thinks he will lose his veteren status with the US government. Has anyone you know done that?
There are plenty of U.S. military veterans living in Costa Rica. While I am not privy to who among them may be disabled, there is no reason to believe that your husband would lose his disability status solely on the basis of living here. That is not to say that the Veterans’ Administration might not review the basis for his disability and find that he no longer qualifies, of course.
A further question you should address is your husband’s access to medical care here. Two hospitals used to participate in Tri-Care (right?) but have since ceased to do so. A new provider has emerged in San Jose but I am unclear just how comprehensive their services are.
Of course, you and your husband would have access to all the sources of medical care and payment plans which have been extensively discussed elsewhere in this forum.
