Hello everyone. I just joined this forum and am very excited about learning from you all. My husband and I are coming to Costa Rica in the spring and want to take the relocation tour with George Lundquist. Any comments about this tour would be appreciated. We are seriously thinking about retiring in a couple of years and hope you will be able to answer a ton of questions. To be continued..
We took George’s tour in Jan 08. returned in may , bought property, and are in the process of building a house. George’s tour is a no nonsense , informative,and fun trip to the areas he considers good places for gringos to retire. If you want to live on the beach, he won’t take you there . Tulsa Oklahoma.I did read your wife’s review of the tour. I’m glad she finally got to go to the beach!. Well, it’s settled. We’ll be there in April. We will arrive 3 days before the tour and want to do some sightseeing. Would love some hints about where to stay. Want to go to Arenal and ALL over. We’ve bought maps, books, videos. WeLoveCostaRica.comMarcia and I, too, are veterans of George’s tour and we highly recommend it. George will show you more locations than you can absorb, but he won’t hold anything back. And he is a fountain of knowledge. You’ll learn more from George than from all the books combined.
True, George won’t take you to the beach, but Jane will and she takes care of his southern pacific tour. If you want Guanacaste area it is not part of his normal tours, but I’ve no doubt he could help with arrangements. Great tours, great people, but you might want to start “training” now as it can be exhausting both mentally and physically. One can definitely have endurance levels tested. Regardless, I don’t think one can experience a more in-depth or well-rounded informational tour. George leaves his clients with an excellent source network, boat loads of info, and new friends (foreign & domestic).
I took George’s tour in May, it was worth every penny! George does a good job, showing you much, explaining much. The interesting things is when I am day dreaming at work, which is most of the time, I can actually project myself back to the tour and remember things George explained to us. You will love the driver of the van Oskar, what a delightful man! Both George and Oskar take very good care of you. By the way, if George tell you restaurant has particularly good dish, get it because it always turns out to be true.

I have also heard good things about Georges Tours. My question, I thought that Americans could not work in Costa Rica. So how is it that he can have aTour Company?
I would guess that if you would go on George’s website and ask him this question, he would tell you the answer. My business dealings with him showed me that he is very much above board on what he does. I don’t actually know how he has structured the business portion of his Pura Vida life, but I am pretty certain after his tour, he is being fair to Costa Rica and following the laws without exception. I would guess that everyone he visits on the tour that is from abroad is doing the same also.
As a sidebar, when it came time for me to depart the tour, I gave Oskar; his driver who I think is his business partner for the tours, a tip. Later when they dropped me off in downtown San Jose after helping arrange to change my next day plans so I could follow up on an unexpected opportunity I discovered while on the tour, I tried to give George his portion of the tip money I had brought with me. George insisted I go back out to the van and give the rest of my tip to Oskar which told me his heart was in the right place about what he is doing. George is a free spirit that you don’t often meet in business, but do ask him your question. I bet he will tell you to come on the tour and find out, which will turn out to be the best advice you will get about your goal of moving to Costa Rica! George and Oskar give you the visual experience of everything you are reading in the books.
