What does a U.S. attorney have to do to become licensed to practice in Costa Rica? I have not found any Costa Rican law schools listed online to look at for general information.
Is there any process for waiver of any requirements for old, experienced foreign attorneys? (Probably not since there are already far too many and who needs them anyway?)
Are there any possibilities for employment in a legal capacity as a consultant or teacher, I know the prohibition on employment rules, just wondering…
According my Canadian Attorney friend Rick Philps who is now also a Costa Rican attorney and Notary Public, it is a long arduous process. You would have to go back to school to learn the Napoleonic system of law (different from the USA) and it took him five years.
Of course you would need to understand Spanish perfectly.
