    Can anyone recommend a hotel for less than $100 a night in the center of Panama City?
    We go a couple of times a year for shopping purposes and there are so many to choose from. I have read many reviews on the internet but I am looking for a local opinion.

    What is Panama like? How is it similar and different from Costa Rica?

    In regards to downtown Panama City, it is a paradise for shopping. Prices for clothes and electronic are about 1/2 of the prices here. The Panama Canal and the Amador Causeway are nice places to visit. It is much more modern than San Jose.

    how about the beaches and the scenery? What about wildilfe? Real estate prices? Crime?

    can you bring electronics and other items back to c.r without paying a duty?

    We stayed at the Radisson last month. It was a great place. If you want to stay under $100 I hear Plaza Paitilla Hotel is decent.

    Everyone is allowed $500 duty free every 6 months. The Radisson is very nice but over my budget. The Paitilla has a lot of construction going on around it for the next 6 months or so. I may try it in the future, thanks.

    The best place is hotel Milan. Super location in downtown, nice and clean, free internet,good food too.$3.50 taxi to Albrook mall.
    Reservations cound be made only by e-mail hotelmilan@cwpanama.net
    Pay cash on arrival and get discount. I think it was $52 or $57 a night.
    Milan was #1 on trip adviser until they raise the price. Us to be $32.
    Great place.

    I did contact them but they only allow 2 people per room. I have a wife and 2 small girls. I decided to stay at the Torres de Alba off of Via España. It is about $89 per night if you book on the net. If you call it is $129.

    jgrecia answered that above, scara.

    Everyone gets a duty exemption on $500US worth of imported goods every six months.
