Does anyone have any info on purchasing vehicles that have been unclaimed at the port? I was told that you could buy them for the duty owed on them.
Thanks, TerriWe checked a few months ago on a vehicle that we thought looked ‘abandoned’ there and was told this was possible, but the abandoned vehicles are usually the ones that are in really bad shape. You also have to pay $25 per day for parking.
You can do this if
a) you are a legal resident and must pay duties plus other fees, which end up being lots more than you think!b) as a tourist but it can only stay for 3 months then it cannot enter the country again for 90 days. Still must pay fees.
