I put my boat and car in storage in the US and sold virtually everything else I owned 5 months ago –
For the first time in my life I have no car, no television, no radio, no microwave, no dishwasher, etc etc – I hitch-hike virtually everywhere I go – I also share my outside kitchen with a 3′ iguana
I do have a computer but the period key and question mark keys stopped working a few weeks back – I also kept my ipod (I’m not COMPLETELY crazy)
I rented a little 500 sq ft cabina near Tamarindo for 450 US dollars a month – I’m growing a garden and eating the most amazing fish and vegetables every day – Running on the beach – exploring all kinds of new and amazing beaches – Taking lots of picures
Going horseback riding and Catamaran next week – I’ve made more new friends in the last two months than I did in the last two years- A family picked me up hitch hiking the other day and took me in for breakfast and coffee for two hours – They invited me to go to a big wedding in Puntarenas but I couldn’t make it –
I really love living here
(I would NOT recommend hitch hiking to just anybody however – especially not at night – I would never do that)
Here are some pics:
Judging from the photos Shawn, it would appear that you are having a very, very enjoyable time … 🙂

Great pics! I don’t know you, but looking at your pictures, I just sat there with a big smile on my face, thinking how happy I am for this guy. Good for you.

Can I ask what kind of camera you have? Those pictures are amazing.
I’m 43
The camera is a Nikon D200 – most of the pictures are exposure bracketed with a wide angle lens and luck
Great pictures and you have inspired me to move. BC
What made you decide to move? I am 25 and I have basically been thinking about moving there non-stop since I visited last November.
