I searched the forum, but did not get any results on shipping pets (cats) from CR to the US. Can someone advise on what documentation is necessary? Thank you.
What is required to bring your cats into the United States will be determined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. They should have a website that you can Google and should be able to advise you.
If you’re in the U.S. now, you can call the APHIS office in your state capitol and talk to the chief veterinarian. If you draw a blank when you Google the APHIS, try Googling “Veterinary Service”.
For cats and dogs you need a health certificate and a rabies certificate prepared by a veterinarian. It’s fairly simple and most good vets can do this for you. It can’t be over ten days old and the rabies shot has to have been given at least 30 days prior to departure.
