China building the new CR national stadium

The National Stadium of Costa Rica will soon appear as did a cricket stadium in the West African country of Togo as well as a gym in Antananarivo, Madagascar and the Aquatic Center of Samoa, considered the finest in the South Pacific.

Many foreign construction projects have been completed by Chinese workers with orange helmets emblazoned with the initials ANFECC. Those letters stand for the Anhui Foreign Economic Construction Company, which is a subsidiary of the Ministry of the People’s Republic of China. In the registration of ANFECC and in all their projects, the ambassador and in some cases, the president of China are personally involved.

All of ANFECC’s projects are part of the diplomatic and economic cooperation that China provides to its allies. This firm provides capital to the state government of Anhui Province and operates under the wing of the Construction Ministry of China, which for years has provided diplomatic and economic aid to small countries not allied with Taiwan.

The firm, employing about 3,000 people, has subsidiaries in Madagascar, Togo, Mozambique, Ivory Coast and Ethiopia. Among the projects built by ANFECC are the office building of the Parliament, an international airport and a four star hotel in Mozambique, an international conference center and a five-star hotel in Madagascar, an international conference center in Myanmar (Burma) and a Technical University in Ethiopia. The list continues with projects like the office building of the president of Mauritania and one of the buildings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uganda.
