I am coming this summer and can stay only four days, I would like to find a cheap yet reliable dentist in or close to SJ. Any suggestions?

You usually get what you pay for……even in Costa Rica. The dentist I used in San Jose is Dr. Telma Rubinstein of the Prisma Dental Clinic. She is very good and will try to accommodate your schedule. Is she cheap? Compared to what?
For me, the money spent was well worth it and a lot less than here in Canada.

There are quite a few other dentists recommended in this Discussion Forum, just use the Forum search facility for dentist and you’ll find more.

Thank you for your insight, I live in virginia and I can tell you that you pay a whole lot less in Canada than we do here in the US. I will look up Dr. Rubinstein, Thank you. Jerry –

Prisma Dental (Rubenstien) has been said to tack on alot of extras that are not really needed (like dental guards). They also push for full restorations which include crowning healthy teeth to match the color of the new implants or crowns they are installing. Be careful that you don’t end up with a whole mouth full of new crowns when you may have only wanted an implant or two.

    Hello.
As others say here there are many good dentists in CR. I did a little research and used Dr. Meza, and can highly recommend this clinic. http://www.mezadentalcare.com/
His office is in near the El Pueblo shopping center, near downtown. Their driver picks you up and returns you to your hotel. I stayed out near Sabana Park.
I agree with another comment here about Dr. Thelma Rubenstein. My experience is that I went there for an estimate and she charged me $175.00 for work I did not ask for. Dr. Meza only charged me the actual cost for a dental scan performed by another clinic ($15).
My total bill came in for under the estimate, and was 40% of the US estimate.

How much work did you have done? Can you please be specific.

    And what was the cost?

What was the pain level compared to US dentists?
