I’m wondering what type of workers (medical) are needed in CR that are not available in quantity from the Tico’s and their education system ? I am aware of the laws there but am wondering if there’s additional education or certification I should obtain prior to moving there. My internet job may not last very long and i need an income.Jerry-
Last time I checked, Costa Rica did not license podiatrists and there’s no evidence that any are practicing here. You might or might not be able to be the first one.
If, on the other hand, you’re looking for a wage-paying job, I think you’re going to be disappointed. Virtually all entry level jobs pay wages that are laughable by American standards. Even if you are able to get a work permit, which can take a year or longer and which isn’t at all guaranteed, the question you must ask is whether you could live on what you’d make.
And if you’re thinking of an occupation that requires licensure or certification here in Costa Rica, I think that getting recognition of your credentials from the U.S. is a very long shot indeed. It might happen, but possibly not in your lifetime.
This is not a place to look for remunerative employment, I’m afraid.
