Costa Rica has been accepted by the Pacific Alliance
The Pacific Alliance is an economic forum, comprised of Colombia, Chile, Mexico and Peru.

This alliance brings together 214 million potential customers and handles 55% of trade in this region.
Benefits of the Pacific Alliance include:

    Free trade between member countries
Travel visas will not be necessary for the citizens of member countries
Scholarship programs, assistance and support between member countries embassies.
To solidify its membership, the Costa Rican Congress must ratify the Free Trade Agreement with Colombia as well as all conditions of the Pacific Alliance.

It’s interesting information but Tom but – this is a Discussion Forum and – with your experience having lived here for a quite some time, it would be interesting to hear how you feel this will affect Costa Rica?

Economically, it sounds like a boost for Costa Rica. The part that bothers me is the non-requirement for a travel visa for citizens between member countries, especially Colombia. Although things are improving over time, I believe that the requirement for a travel visa for Colombians is still advisable.

I agree with watchdog. The agreement could enhance the ability of Columbian gangs and drug trafficers to move through Costa Rica more freely.
