Driving to Costa Rica from CanadaIs it do able????
of course it’s doable, but do you really want to do this? there are some rather questionable areas through which you must drive, such as mexico where there are banditos, guatemala which is generally unsafe, el salvador which is pretty much lawless, but having said that, i have a girlfriend who did it last year and survived, even after her traveling companion bailed on her in mexico. however, her problems began when she got in country with a canadian right-hand drive vehicle which is illegal here. it got confiscated at the border last week as she tried to leave, and now she has to pay ten grand or something ridiculous like that for taxes to get the car out of the country to drive back to BC. never ever ever drive at night through latin america. to do so is to risk your life. there are several website devoted to doing this trip — http://www.drivemeloco.com is one of them. but do check with others who have done this before you decide to do it.
