Guanacaste Improvements – You’ve come along way baby!
We who live in the northwest Pacific area see the changes taking place but sometimes just take it for granted and don’t realize just how many changes have taken place in such a short time!!
We are in the High Season right now, and the market appears to be very active!! Also, the northwest Guanacaste region of Costa Rica seems to be progressing faster and faster. It seems every month something new appears — we had no grocery stores, now we have four fabulous ones in the immediate area!
We’ve only had one gas station for a huge region, now one will be opening soon right on the coast in Brasilito – how convenient! We had no furniture stores, and now in the area there are at least five!
Tamarindo is getting a face lift – they are tearing out the bumpy roads, widening them and fixing the drainage. The touristy tee shirt stores there are being pushed into the back ground replaced by beautiful new upscale boutiques and outdoor cafes.
There is also a beautiful new shopping center in Tamarindo with interesting boutiques, a spa, sophisticated furniture store and outdoor dining by a beautiful, relaxing pond in the center.
Oh, and our roads! The big potholes that could have swallowed a bulldozer, have been, and are being, replaced with paving! Some roads now feel like you’re driving on a magic carpet! And our little pieced together airport terminal in Liberia? Well they are erecting a new, modern airport terminal soon!!
Now, phase one of the US$300 million Hyatt Resort in Brasilito is under way, and close by the Rosewood and Ritz Carlton are all getting ready to start their presales! I just heard of a home site (not home, but home SITE) was purchased at the Rosewood for $2,000,000!!
64 Hyatt condos will be built first and are projected to sell for $700,000 up to $2,000,000. Also, these new resort communities mean more golf courses for the area!
The Flamingo Marina contracts should be awarded soon and expected to be completed by the end of 2008 early 2009. Of course, all this will bring even a more affluent tourist to our area, so can you imagine what the prices around here are going to be like in the next year or so.
Costa Rica is truly the land of opportunity and the growth is really quite amazing and very interesting to watch – almost like watching a child grow-up; and I’d say this region of Costa Rica has learned how to crawl and is now taking it’s first baby-steps!! And what a beautiful baby it is becoming!!
