San Jose Real Estate Prices Around Parque La Sabana Expected To Rise Dramatically
San Jose real estate prices around Parque La Sabana are expected to rise dramatically with San Jose’s new soccer stadium plus some other exciting developments – Pope John Paul II and Luciano Pavarotti have been here…
Workers will take about 60 days to demolish the existing San Jose soccer stadium when construction will then begin on the brand new 54,000M2 soccer stadium. Designers are hoping that the new stadium can be inaugurated in early 2010.
The stadium has been located on the North West corner of the Parque la Sabana since it’s inauguration by President Ricardo Jiménez on the 29th December 1924. There have been many renovations including 1938, 1941, 1953, 1969, 1985, 2001 and 2006 but it’s now time to demolish it and start anew…
According to preliminary proposals the new stadium will have an ultra modern organic curved shape with a hydraulic roof with retractable cover, two storey underground parking for 2,500 cars, room for 40,000 – 45,000 fans and a professional running track.
The high-tech structure will comply with all FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) requirements and will be the most modern sports stadium in all of Central America but will also be used for concerts and other forms of public entertainment although Pavarotti will not be coming back..
A mission of engineers, architects and other technicians are here from China to finalize the details with the Departamento Técnico del Instituto Costarricense del Deporte y la Recreación (Icoder). It is China that is financing the new US$60 million stadium.
With this new stadium, the redesign and complete makeover of Parque La Sabana (San Jose’s equivalent of New York’s Central Park), the replanting of numerous native trees, the construction of dozens of new luxury apartment buildings surrounding the park, ambitious plans for the reorganization of public transportation, many people – myself included – believe that real estate prices for quality properties around Parque La Sabana in San Jose could see significant appreciation over the next few years.
