Medical Emergency Air Evacuation – Happy ending

I have lived in Puerto Viejo Talamanca for the past 16 years with my two daughters. My daughter Rose who is ten years old became acutely, and critically ill with bacterial orbital cellulitis.

After several days interned in a public hospital in Limon, her conditions were worsening and I began to fear for her life. Since I was continuously by my daughter’s side, I was unable to coordinate a solution, and it is very difficult, normally, to check-out of a public hospital, especially with a child who is critically ill.









My sister, in California contacted the San Jose hospital website of Hospital Cima where she was immediately connected with Dr. Eduardo Loyola, MD and Servicios Medicos Loyola. Within a few hours, Dr. Loyola and his airt ransport staff, were in Limon, at our sides, securing my daughter’s vital signs, organizing our discharge, and air transporting us to the Cima Hospital.

I had to do absolutely nothing to coordinate this transport. Dr. Loyola came in like a ‘knight in shining amour’ and took care of everything, quickly and efficiently, which was a huge relief to myself, my daughter and our family.









Dr. Loyola runs a first-class, state-of-the-art, air-medical international transport service. He and his staff are very sensitive, informative, accommodating, and very, very professional.




Within moments of being in his care, I went from fearing for my daughter’s life to feeling safe and my daughter in good hands. Dr. Loyola’s airplane is comfortable, and equipped with all the necessary monitors, and his and his flight assistants’ constant attention puts the patient at ease.









Everyone in Costa Rica, especially remote areas such as us in the Talamancas, need to know about this invaluable, professional, equiped service. He told me that he also has a helicopter, and he can literally land in your front yard, if necessary. He prides himself on his professional and efficient services, and it definitely shines through.
