Top 25 Adventures on the Osa Peninsula – I dare you!
Get up close and personal with the crocodiles that line the banks of the Rio Sierpe. This adventure is sure to get your pulse racing. Night time tours also add to the excitement and are the best for experiencing these ancient animals at their most lively.
It comes as no surprise that one of the most biologically diverse places on the planet Earth holds so many opportunities for outdoor adventures.
Here my friend Reece pictured above with Coco on his shoulder while Derby plays in the background. This friendly family of white faced monkeys lives along the banks of the Sierpe River. Simply place your arm on the tree and they’ll climb right onto your shoulder.
The Osa Peninsula is filled with more species of trees than is found in the entire United States as well as over 50% of Costa Rica’s plethora of unique, endemic and endangered animals.
The Osa Peninsula is often referred to as the last frontier because it is some of the most pristine, unspoiled and breathtaking land in Costa Rica.
Releasing leather back turtles (photo above) is one of the many educational activities the Osa offers. Several organizations protect the eggs that have been laid on the beach and allow groups to release them into the ocean. They even have a race to see whose turtle will reach the water first!
Easy access is available via several domestic airports in the Southern Zone and once here you are sure to feel outnumbered by wildlife such as monkeys, dolphins and scarlet macaws. Tourism remains its “bread and butter”; however, a twist on tourism is what makes this place special.
One of my biggest accomplishments in life… 🙂 – Hauling in a 65 pound yellow fin tuna! After a half an hour fighting what felt like a 65 pound rock with muscles swimming toward the bottom of the ocean I was ready to share some sashimi with nearby resorts!
Eco-tourism is a natural fit for the Osa Peninsula. From the tourist hub of Sierpe, the “gateway” to the Osa, you can branch out in several directions by boat, horse, quad or kayak to experience the heart of Costa Rica. The adventures are endless!

Soar like a bird for a day. It’s the most exhilarating way to explore the canopy! Hop into your harness, secure to the line and zip across the tree tops while your feet dangle. The beauty is sure to take away any fear of heights.
