A Bougainvillean Symphony of Colours.
I am constantly amazed at how things grow, oh so rapidly in Costa Rica.
After moving into my new apartment on the tenth floor of a building in San Jose, my girlfriend found some large decorative pots for the terrace just off the living room and we planted some different coloured bougainvillea plants.
These photographs clearly show what has happened after three short months.
Supposedly the name comes from Louis Antoine de Bougainville, an admiral in the French Navy who discovered the plant in Brazil in 1768.
It’s been my experience that people tend to fall into either the ‘house’ or ‘apartment’ category and I’m most definitely more comfortable in an apartment…
Since 1996 I have moved home 14 times through three different countries and have lived, bought, sold and rented quite a few homes and apartments during that time but, I’ll be staying right where I am for quite some time…
