US Woman Pays $3,600 for Expert Dental Work in Costa Rica That Would Cost $14,000 in the USA
In a WRPI news program on 9th October 2010 about patients flying abroad for dental work, they discussed the lower costs overseas but ask “is safety at risk?”
“The price of dental care can be pretty costly. Even if you have insurance, you can be stuck paying thousands of dollars out of pocket — which is prompting some people to actually leave the country to save money. The practice is called “dental tourism.”
In the article they discuss the case of Shelia Liner who had broken, damaged front teeth for many years and even with dental insurance she was quoted around $14,000 to fix them. She didn’t have that money: “I just thought I’ll never be able to have it done,” said Liner.
In the end Sheila found a dentist in Costa Rica who did the dental work for her for just US$3,600 and obviously Sheila is thrilled with the results.
“I was just so excited to be able to smile again,” said Shelia. “It had been a long time!”
