Great Fishing in the Central Pacific – Los Suenos Billfish Tournament.
The Central Pacific features some of the best fishing around. For serious anglers, the Los Suenos 2011 Signature Billfish Tournament is about as big as it gets.
The first leg of the series was held January 25th-Jan 29th and was a huge success with 41 participating teams and 161 individual anglers. This year the 41 participating teams caught and released a total of 80 marlin in just 3 days and all told there 189 sailfish released.
- 1st Place went to Sea Angel Captained by Billy Chase from Home Port Baytown, Texas.
- 2nd Place went to Dragin Fly Captained By James Smith out of Homeport Los Suenos, Costa Rica.
- 3rd Place went to Pescadora Captained by Robert Burnside out of Homeport Los Suenos Costa Rica and included the Top Angler Award to Michael Rankey!
On the Central Pacific coast, the latest reports from Los Sueños and Quepos say the fishing is solid with boats raising four to eight sails a day. Roosterfish and snapper have been active around the rocks near Herradura. Yesterday I had a client tell me they caught 8 sailfish, it was her first time fishing here and she was amazed, her only complaint being the blister from reeling so much.
The next leg of the Los Suenos Billfish Tournament is scheduled for March 2nd-5th 2011.
