One of the reasons I enjoy living in Jaco Beach is because of the access and availability of restaurants, stores, events, and activities.

Recently I wrote about a new theater group that is producing first rate productions, bringing talents from places like New York and Los Angeles, and soon they will have a new theater in which to perform, a very first in beach living for Costa Rica.

Oceans by DayStar has unveiled plans for a multipurpose entertainment, corporate meetings and private event facility in Jaco Beach, which is currently under construction and set to open in July 2011.

Known as the Ocean Center, it will also serve as a Cultural and Community Center and home to Teatro Jaco with a 150 seat theatre space. Under the direction of Darren Lee Cole, a NYC and Jaco based producer with over 30 years of producing experience in New York and London, Teatro Jaco will “Bring the world of entertainment to Jaco”.

In partnership with DayStar, Teatro Jaco’s mission is to make arts accessible to the Jaco community through local schools and social programming in addition to world class theatrical productions.

The Center will be available for Private Events, Corporate Meetings and Weddings with flexible reception areas for groups of up to 200 people.

This is obviously a great addition to not just the Jaco community, but the entire Central Pacific, as those living in areas like Hermosa, Esterillos and Herradura will all be enjoying the new theater.
