While almost half of the U.S. spent most of their past weekend waiting in lines and avoiding pepper spraying lunatics in hope of purchasing Black Friday bargains, over 100 of us here in Costa Rica enjoyed a beautiful day in Los Suenos at the first annual Thanksgiving Cup Golf Tournament.

It turned out to be a gorgeous day and an outstanding event, featuring 46 teams. Designed by Ted Robinson Jr., the 18-hole, par-72 course combines incredible scenery with challenging golf.

My wife and a couple other partners organized the event, in which proceeds from the tournament went to help with the illumination project of the central park in Jaco.

This lighting up of the park in collaboration with the municipality of Garabito and ICE will be for the entire Christmas season thereby boosting the feel of Christmas spirit in Jaco, something which our town has keenly missed in years past.

Taca Airlines, who sponsored the tournament, awarded the winners a free flight to Miami, along with a 2 night stay and round of golf at the Doral Golf Resort.

The Jaco light show and concert will be held on he 8th December 2011 so if you are in the area for those dates be sure to join us at the park at 6pm
