Canadians, who love freedom and the ability to choose, are prisoners of their own dental system.

All the financial advantages offered by their government financed medical care known as the National Health Care System is swallowed up by unrelenting dental costs that are not covered according to “Social Policy and Practice in Canada: A History” by Alvin Finkel.

In spite of being a country that can boast a Paris (Montreal), a London (Toronto), a Singapore (Vancouver), a Dallas (Calgary) not to mention the soaring Rocky Mountains and its own ocean (Hudsons Bay), Canadians have nothing to boast about when it comes paying for dental treatment and they have very few options.

Canada’s multi-cultural population provides it with a dynamic human energy that is constantly challenging the past and reinventing the future…. but not when it comes to dental care.

Canada may have socialised medicine, which is a debate for another day, but it excludes dental care and what has happened is that dentists in Canada, generally speaking, charge 3 or 4 times the cost of dental care in Costa Rica.

For example here is a quote from E-How Health (1) concerning the cost in Canada for a dental implant…

‘To receive [in Canada] the implant — or screw that is inserted into the jaw — the average price runs around $2,400.’

In Costa Rica Dr. Mario would provide you, in his English-friendly, state-of-the-art dental facility, a Zimmer post or screw – which is the top-of-the-line in implants – for a cost of $900.

So for the cost of just one solitary implant in Canada you could nearly have three of them done for you in Costa Rica.

When you must have dental work done that includes multiple implants, bridges fixed with implants or permanent dentures, the cost savings in Costa Rica over the typical prices you would pay in Canada will be significant.

• A crown is about $1,000 – 1,200
• A porcelain veneer is $2,000+ each
• A root canal is $700+ each and…
• Dental implants in Canada are as much as $4,000 each with a permanent crown while Dr. Mario’s total cost for the exact same quality dental implant in Costa Rica is $1,500

In Dr. Mario’s dental practice which is located in Escazu, a place that many foreigners call the ‘Beverly Hills’ of Costa Rica, here are the dental costs:

• A crown is $450 – 550
• A porcelain veneer is $400
• A root canal is $300
• Dental implants with the permanent crown are $1,500<

Every patient has slightly different requirements but in nearly every comparison you will save – at a minimum – 50% and in the case of porcelain veneers, up to 80%!

You would enjoy similar cost savings with other dental procedures we haven’t mentioned here when you have your dental work done in Costa Rica with Dr. Mario.

Why sit there moaning about the dental plan with it’s five figure prices given to you by your dentist in Canada, waiting for more freezing temperatures, when you could be sitting here with hardly any clothes on dipping your feet in the swimming pool and enjoying 77F degrees (25C) weather with your sandals on and a T-shirt?

Just think what you could do if you could save 50% or more by having your dental work done professionally in Costa Rica instead of Canada?
