One of my favorite beaches in the Central Pacific is Playa Bejuco.

Playa Bejuco is a gorgeous, pristine beach that is just a 30 minute drive south from Jaco Beach. It continues to be one of the regions true hidden gems and a favorite spot for many of us locals to visit.

Yesterday my wife and I took a quick day trip to enjoy some sunshine and grab a few sea shells. Perhaps my favorite part of Bejuco is that there are never any sort of crowds and in many cases you will have the beach practically all to yourself.

You’ll see in the photographs here that there was nobody around, making it feel like we had our own private beach!

Surfers will also appreciate the privacy, as Playa Bejuco is one of the few surfing hotspots that has managed to stay largely undetected in Costa Rica.

There are no large hotels located at this off-the-radar beach, which has in many ways proved beneficial to its preservation. Proud owner of the Blue Flag Award, it is one of the cleanest beaches in Costa Rica, lined with tropical greenery and boasting some of the most powerful waves in the country.
